  • Lungs in Action Heart Failure training is an educational module for those who play a role in exercising people with Heart Failure, or who are a part of a broader multi disciplinary team that provide these services.

  • There is no eligibility criteria for the completion of this course.

    Aimed at personal trainers, fitness instructors, exercise physiologist and physiotherapists; this course has been completed by an array of allied health and nursing staff with positive feedback.
    • You will be granted access to the Heart Failure component of the larger Lungs in Action training manual. This manual can be downloaded as a pdf and printed at your leisure.
    • Please be aware that the Lungs in Action Heart Failure Training is a part of the wider Lungs in Action Full Instructor Course. This larger training package focuses on obtaining the skills and learning about the delivery of safe exercise for those with stable chronic lung conditions in addition to those with stable Class II and III (NYHA) Heart Failure.
    • The training was made available as a stand alone option after the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) piloted the use of the Lungs in Action Heart Failure training by 20 allied health and nursing staff as a professional development tool in 2012.
    Through an evaluation of this pilot;
    • 95% of participants believed the Lungs in Action Heart Failure Training met their expectations.
    • 95% of participants stated the Lungs in action Heart Failure Training met it’s achieved learning objective.
    • All participants said they would recommend the Lungs in Action Heart Failure Training to other colleagues.
    When asked what participants most enjoyed about the training, the main themes included:

    • Overview of pathophysiology of Heart Failure

    With overwhelming positive feedback around the use of the Lungs in Action Heart Failure Training as a standalone professional development tool, we have now made this training available to all health professionals.
    • Please note there are currently no professional development points available with this training through accrediting bodies. On completion you will receive a certification highlighting the time attributable to the training and the training objectives.
