How do I become a mentor?
The Lungs in Action Full Instructor Training provides a unique training experience for exercise professionals by combining an online and practical component. This practical component includes mentoring support from the local pulmonary and heart failure rehabilitation programs. Lungs in Action instructors may include exercise physiologists, physiotherapists and fitness instructors (Fitness instructors must have a minimum of Cert IV Fitness with the older adults competency and 2 years’ experience)
Lung Foundation Australia has recognised that there needs to be appropriately trained Lungs in Action instructors who can deliver safe and effective programs, and this mentoring and practical component fosters a supportive environment for this.
Mentors are pulmonary and heart failure rehabilitation physiotherapists and accredited exercise physiologists who have 12 months clinical experience in delivering pulmonary and/or heart failure rehabilitation programs.
All mentors are supported by the Lungs in Action program manager and will be provided with all the require information throughout the process. Mentors will also be granted access to the full online training to support their role, and any other applicable assessment documentation.
