A big THANK YOU to Carlie Marshall – Castle Hill Lungs in Action Instructor who recently presented at the Lung Foundation Australia’s annual Sydney Lung Health Patient Education Day. The event took place at the Burwood RSL with over150 patients, carers and health professionals in attendance to listen to three wonderful guest speakers. Attendees came from far and wide including the central coast and other outer regions. Speakers on the Day were: Dr Lauren Troy, Staff Specialist at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital who spoke about “What’s new in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis clinical trials”; Prof Allan Glanville, Director, Thoracic Medicine and Medical Director of the Lung Transplantation Unit at St. Vincent’s Hospital who provided an overview of lung transplantation and gave an insight into some new developments; and our very own Carlie! Carlie, Exercise Physiologist and Lungs in Action instructor discussed “The Benefits of Exercise for People with a Respiratory Condition”; and raised the importance of Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Lungs in Action thereafter. Carlie even had some of her keen and eager LIA participants in attendance demonstrating the exercises. The Presentation was well received by all and we hope this will increase awareness and importance of Lungs in Action across NSW as a whole! On behalf of Lung Foundation Australia Thank You Carlie!
